Sea fishing is a demanding and rewarding sport, and great for helping you master the art of angling. Anyone can try their hand at sea fishing, providing that you have the correct tackle and sea fishing equipment.

James Hibbert, who was voted Best Deep Sea Fishing Blogger of 2013, has shared his thoughts on the most spectacular places for sea fishing across the globe.

Here are 5 of top sea fishing spots according to the famous fishing enthusiast.

1. Madeira

With a sub tropical climate, Madeira, just south of Portugal, is a warm place to sea fish. The sea is up to 1,000 metres deep so there is an abundance of white marlin, blue marlin, big eye tuna, spearfish, bluefin tuna and other fish species.

2. Mexico

Mexico offers some of the best sea fishing hotspots in the world. Visit Los Cabos, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta and Baja for a great catch.

3. Norway

With 21,000 kilometres of coastline in Norway, there’s an endless availability of sea fishing locations. The depths you’ll be fishing in will be demanding of equipment; braids and heavy duty multipliers will be required. There’s an abundance of cod, halibut, mackerel and herring available on the Norwegian coast.

4. Alderney, Channel Islands

Fish species flourish in spring around the Alderney coast and is a great place to practice your angling skills for bass, mullet and flat fish such as turbot, brill and undulate ray.

5. Florida Keys

With an all year round summer sun, Florida Keys is a wonderful sea fishing experience. Anglers such as James Hibbert enjoy the calm, flat waters and the beautiful lagoons which create homes for a range of fish species.

Winter angling is not for everybody. Standing knee to chest deep in frigid Steelhead runs negotiating slippery rocks in search of a Unicorn.

But, then it happens. Something, a fish maybe, touched the fly.

Then, a slow deep pull.

Wintering in Western Washington is not that bad then…is it.

Richard Raisler lives in Mt. Vernon and loves to swing the spey fly. He has been fishing with 2 handed rods for as long as anyone can remember. the Skagit River is his home river. HE is not afraid to try his luck on other NW Steelhead Rivers either.

Richard shoots a Sony SLR.
