Caleb Garrett | Missouri River Twilight
A setting sun signals the end of the day, but in the last moments until the burning golden orb disappears behind the horizon line, magic happens on the Missouri River in late summer.
Insects dance at the river’s edge, and trout normally too wary to rise for a dry fly momentarily break into our world to inhale Caddis.
Big, solitary Browns under brush overhangs announce their presence subtly with a quick flash of yellow nosing an inch out of the water.
One deliberate cast lays a barely visible fly underneath a willow.
Fish on.
