Welcome to the New Focalfish
Surprise! So you thought we were going to let Focalfish die, did you? Well we’re not, but we had a very busy summer with guiding pursuits, as did most of our contributors. It was tough to get images from them and tough for us to find the time to update.
As you can see, we’ve completely re-worked Focalfish, and are changing the format a bit. Our “guide contributors” will remain – how could we be Focalfish without their shots – but we are opening up Focalfish to everyone. That’s right, anyone can submit photos now. There just too many photo-fishermen and women out there who catch great shots while on the water.
Point and shoot and even iPhone photographers are more than welcome, and you should expect to see some competitions in those categories.
All unsolicited submissions will fall under our “Reader Submission” category. Just send your images to us, and our crack staff of editors will see if yours make the cut (see Contact/Submissions for details).
We are also adding a video category to Focalfish, but we’re looking for a very specific type. If you think your footage belongs on Focalfish, check the Contact/Submissions page for the details before editing. If you don’t own a tripod, we suggest you go out and get one.
NEW FORMAT
Posts will no longer be daily single image posts. You can expect multiple image sets in a full page slideshow along with a bit more information about the photos, anglers and photographers. If you click through most of the recent links (click on the image or title) you’ll see what we mean.
If you’re interested in participating, we’re looking for multi-photo sets that pertain to a specific subject, and a little information about the location, fish, conditions, how you got your shots, your camera gear, etc. That’s right boys and girls, a little text to go along with it. Just remember that we are still looking for quality images that are properly exposed, in focus, framed, etc. If you’ve got crappy photos, put ‘em on Facebook. That’s what we do with ours.
We hope you like the new look, and are able to participate through submissions and/or commenting. We will start posting regularly in the next few weeks, so make sure and subscribe via email or our RSS feed. We look forward to bringing you some of the best fly fishing photo and video out there. Hopefully you’ll learn something about fishing and photography along the way.
Thanks
Mark & John
